Navy SEALs Face Charges For Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

This is exactly the same kind of stupidity that has led to the Obama administration seeking to try enemy combatants [read: terrorists] in a civilian trial rather than a military tribunal. They're handling war like it's a police action, bestowing Constitutional rights on terrorists, and in this case, treating our soldiers like criminals for having done their job.

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges.

The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it."

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

A bloody lip? Do you seriously believe that if a Navy SEAL lost control of his temper, the only injury sustained by his opponent would be a fat lip? These SEALs could have easily executed this scumbag and hidden the body out in the desert, but they obeyed the rules and brought him in to face justice. And this is how we repay our servicemen for doing their duty.

If Abed was already restrained and unable to defend himself when the alleged abuse occurred, that is a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. And if that was the case, the SEALs should get a Captain's Mast (a non-judicial disciplinary hearing) and perhaps a formal reprimand.

And then a round of beers at the Enlisted Men's Club.

Thing is, these SEALs know they did nothing wrong, so they're refusing the Captain's Mast and insisting on a trial by court-martial. But by allowing this outrage to proceed, we're setting a precedent that all a terrorist needs to do in order to incapacitate his captors is lodge a complaint against them (perhaps even punching himself in the face to fake a minor injury). Then the politically-correct leadership in our military will do the job the camel-humping jihadists couldn't do: take our special forces off of the battlefield...perhaps even permanently.

As Commander-In-Chief, President Obama could — and should — step in and halt the ridiculous proceedings against these SEALs. But he won't. He would rather continue the example set by President Bush's shameful handling of the case of Border Patrol Agents Ramos & Compean.

It's important to keep in mind the kind of "person" Abed is. This is his handiwork:

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that "Objective Amber" planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and "they had been tracking this guy for some time."

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Obama to India's Prime Minister: What an honor for you to meet me!

This isn't another bow, but President Obama still managed to embarrass himself...this time by tripping over his overinflated ego. Via National Review:

President Obama welcomed Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the White House with words that have inspired snickers in New Delhi:

"Yours is the first official state visit of my presidency, its fitting that you and India be so recognised," 48-year-old Obama told the 77-year-old Indian leader.

The general reaction in India has been: Who the heck does this guy think he is? Note to the Great Diplomat: When you do a head of state an honor, you don't remind him, in public, of the fact that you have done him an honor, particularly in self-aggrandizing terms of this sort.

President Obama continues to baffle me. On one hand, he travels the world groveling before world leaders, personifying weakness and indecision. On the other, he behaves as though he truly believes the "messiah" spin coming from his cult-like followers. He's making Bill Clinton look downright humble in comparison.

Obama is truly the embodiment of the joke that goes, "But enough about me. What do YOU think of me?"

Liberals are all aflutter today over a YouTube video entitled "SARAH PALIN BOOK SIGNING - Interviews with Supporters." In it, a group called NewLeftMedia asks Palin supporters to cite specific policies on which they agree with the former governor of Alaska. Predictably, there are plenty of people waiting in line who don't have substantive reasons behind their affection for Palin.



Maybe one of my liberal readers could explain how that demonstrates Palin supporters to be more ignorant that the people who actually voted for Barack Hussein Obama, Mmm Mmm Mmm.



This is precisely the kind of thing Howard Stern (who could never be accused of being a Conservative) was trying to prove when he quizzed Obama supporters in Harlem about the issues back in October, 2008.

9/11 terrorists will use public trials as “platform” to bash America

When Barack Obama was running for president, he pledged to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay because he claimed its existence "created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained" and its closure would “further the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice.”

As usual, Mr. Obama couldn't be more wrong. As we saw this weekend, our president's naivety will now be the newest source for al-Qaeda's anti-American propaganda.

NEW YORK – The five men facing trial in the Sept. 11 attacks will plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy, the lawyer for one of the defendants said Sunday. Scott Fenstermaker, the lawyer for accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, said the men would not deny their role in the 2001 attacks but “would explain what happened and why they did it.”

The U.S. Justice Department announced earlier this month that Ali and four other men accused of murdering nearly 3,000 people in the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. will face a civilian federal trial just blocks from the site of the destroyed World Trade Center. Ali, also known as Ammar al-Baluchi, is a nephew of professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Mohammed, Ali and the others will explain “their assessment of American foreign policy,” Fenstermaker said.

“Their assessment is negative,” he said.

Never forget, 9/11 "mastermind" Khalid Sheikh Mohammed also planned assassination plots against Presidents Carter & Clinton as well as the Pope, Operation Bojinka (where multiple airliners were to be detonated simultaneously in mid-air), José Padilla's "dirty bomb" plot, Richard Reed's shoe bomb attempt, the 1993 World Trade Center attack, and he's confessed to personally beheading journalist Daniel Pearl (“I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan”).

Giving these terrorists Constitutional rights, a public platform from which to broadcast their views, and allowing their lawyers access to classified documents will undoubtedly put more American lives at risk. And with President Obama prematurely declaring them guilty before the trial even starts, it remains to be seen whether justice will ever be served.
